A classic rough cubic map (de_BO_metro), similar to a beginner's map, but without unnecessary visual debris from models and boxes.
I hope map isn't too overloaded with graffiti.
New animations for the cut Snapbug appear!
Despite Chuck Jones saying he didn't have anything else, he actually did which isn't even surprising anymore.
I made a tool because manually gathering all the files for Source mod builds sucks.
Sourcemods Builder:
* Scans your VMF/BSP maps.
* Auto-finds + copies all required models, materials, sounds to a clean output folder (keeps structure).
* Saves hours, less missing stuff.
* Fast (Rust 🦀).
* Native GUI & CLI.
* Free, open-source, cross-platform (Win/Linux).
Another tip to mappers out there :
Do not underestimate the power of decals & overlays. These things can make an area go from semi decent looking to a very dense and rich environment, and help communicate detail that would be way harder to achieve with just map geometry. This is especially important for destroyed/abandoned environments
Way before Day of Defeat excited a little-known Half-Life mod called War in Europe set the stage. Released in 1999, it was rough, experimental… and full of ideas that would later shape DoD. I just explored all of them in one video, like a virtual time capsule of the early modding era.
Preservation matters.
