Viktor antonov, a legend that will never pass, a legend that made many of our favorite games what they are today. A legend making legends.
He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Yesterday it was announced by Marc Laidlaw that Viktor Antonov, who directed the art style of Half-Life 2 in 1999-2005, has passed away I still remember looking at his artworks years ago thinking how awesome they were for the emotion and vibes they give, Antonov also worked on Dishonored and Wolfenstein: The New Order giving each of them a uniquely dark art style that is instantly recognisable, his influence on the design of games won't be forgotten Such a shame he passed,, too early aswell, much love and respect to not only him but his family and colleagues dealing with their loss

According to a recent social media post by Marc Laidlaw, Viktor Antonov - Half-Life 2's visionary art director - has passed away.

Assuming this is true, we are extremely saddened to hear this news.

I've just learned today that Viktor Antonov, Half-Life 2's video game art director and concept artist, has passed away at the age of 53.
Thanks to him, he managed to create the whole dystopian and unique atmosphere of City 17 in Half-Life 2.
Rest In Peace, Viktor.

"In fact, within a city, there are 1,000 different cities that exist in the same physical space. It's fascinating."

He's gone so soon. Viktor Antonovy was responsible for Half-Life 2 being visually recognizable with an abstract/surrealistic look. Which served as the basis for Dishonored - 2012 (I've never played it and have no interest), which shares similarity even though it uses a modern Engine, which is Unreal 3 (Gears of War, Batman Arkham, Mortal Kombat 11, etc.). In Doom 2016 (I've never played it and have no interest), he was the consultant. Rest in peace Viktor, Half-Life 2 is my favorite Half-Life and for me the best (It's my favorite game that I like because I've never had a game like it). Its look will remind us of the VALVe/Source Engine games. It will be remembered by fans of other franchises outside of VALVe like Dishonored. Now Viktor, receive this:

- Give him, Lord, eternal rest.
