OBSELETE NOW ! ! ! The only purpose for this post now is if someone wants to go back and consider the comments. I can't be the only one that thinks this site has degenerated a LOT. Skilled people making really good things get outshined by the "Toilet Gear" stuff (Which isn't funny.) There are like 7 active users (MetroHazard,, Future Starter, MyDude, etc). I would start posting more things, but I already know people are going to appreciate a dumb meme way more than actual effort.

Thanks for the comment. It's quite concerning to hear you feel this way because we set the site up to try and be a pillar for higher quality content, compared to places such as the subreddit, which we had witnessed this very problem with previously. The biggest challenge is that we can't control what people post unless it breaks the rules, and therefore it is a constant upward battle to get people to continue to post higher quality posts over lower ones. We recognize that the main solution to this is to ensure high quality content is rewarded, over lower quality content. Clearly something isn't quite right with this, so we need to work on it. It could mean we need to tweak the trending algorithm or other things (we'd like to know if people have suggestions). We are working on a major update, with new features. We previously released new features weekly, and we agree this is the best strategy to keep the site 'fresh', however the current update is of the nature in which it takes a long time to develop and can not be broken down into sub-features, hence the silence. In addition, the platform itself is only worked on a technical level by myself and @david. We do not gain any income for the site, and we are purely doing this out of our passion for the game and the community. This also means any personal downtime from either of us directly delays the site. I was recently unwell and unable to work for a period, which is partially the reason for the 'update' being delayed. We appreciate everyone who uses our site and for the support. On the features front, we'd like to ask if people could have some patience, as some big changes are coming. [Part 2 below ...]
In the meantime, to help the site maintain a higher standard of posts quality, we'd like to ask people to refrain from overloading the site with in-jokes or memes that exclude the overall fanbase. We appreciate people enjoy the site, but it's also important to realize this is a public community and so posts should try to be of value/entertainment to everyone. In the meantime, we'd also encourage everyone to only interact with posts if they want to see them gain attention - as liking and commenting on posts only increases the chance if them hitting the front page. If you don't like a post (and it doesn't break the rules), the best remedy is to completely ignore it.
Do not be taking all the fault on your own. I don't know you personally, but I'm sure you might be a good person and just bullying urself is not the way. Keep it up, but try harder.
In regards to quality of posts, I think a simple solution would be to simply limit the amount people can post a day. Maybe 2 times a day would be best imo. Would still allow ppl to shitpost if they want but wouldnt overwhelm ppls feeds with lower quality posts. and would make those users more cautious with what they use their posts for. Can't imagine anybody is posting higher quality content more than twice a day except maybe posting links to external sites like yt/moddb. idk though im sure the team will work out a good solution for everyone.
crucify me for this but I kinda like the fact the site doesn't have like 10 million people at it since that means the people you see here are people who you see multiple times instead of just seeing once and then never again like in the half life subreddit that's just my opinion tho please don't publicly execute me for it
I really do agree with you. Whenever a website is over populated you tend to see too many posts and the website gets too cluttered. Also websites that are not really popular tend to be more comfortable since there's not much drama and what not.
I personally love the site, so no complaints here. Although I agree that the 'toilet gear' stuff got spammy and I didn't get it. Think people should try keep things genuinely on topic more. Just my two cents.
I quite like the "Fan art of the week" feature that encourages community artists to publish their work and improve over time (2D, 3D, SFM etc). We could also have something particular for other departments, such as: level designers (a lot mapper members), WIP content, mod's dev blog/articles taking about their new media or demo/full release. With this, here are couple of features I'd suggest to impulse creative content: - LambdaGen's Mod Choice of the Month: each month, the LambdaGeneration staff picks a community mod that recently pushed out a dev update regarding their newest media update (mid or big one) or their just released demo (or announced an ETA/going full release!). - Modding of the Week: most liked/upvoted/commented mapping/modding content related. I could also do the same for other areas (mapping, music, writing, hell even memes) but we can't forget the staff also gotta work on their weekly Lambda video, reporting news to us. Again, it's a matter or maintaining the site clean and fresh with updates, and member being more civil and less "degenerated" on very old-overused jokes (unfunny memes -- it also depends since something funny can be for some and not for all-- sometimes I giggle a little on some) Still, I love this site more than other places, and I really like to see such quality modding media from many people. i try to always leave a like. :))
In terms of algorithm, perhaps keeping the upvoted content more on trends but leaving "memes" related out of it a bit less. Which would results everything else >>> 'memes'.
Thanks for this! Some fun ideas. We'd love to do more things like this. Our team is quite overloaded right now, but I'd love for us to have more modding spotlight. Will see what we can do in the future! Thanks again for the support.
holy shit i was too scared to say it but yeah thats true
Hi all - we take this sort of feedback very seriously. Here's our response (separate post for everyone to see!): community.lambdageneration.com/p…

no offense to anyone, they are in the right but i just had to upload thisngif
Apparently if I say something is out of topic I am a nerd
I agree except the part of "notable updates". Which updates you need? Honestly I feel like everything I need here is, well, here. If there needs to be a redesign update, please, just don't! I really hate when websites change their designs just because "it's old already".
I did hear that there's an update in development...
that IS what hes talking about in the second section hes just saying its taking a long ass time.
Wait yeah I'm a dumbass lol
I have to agree, even if I really only hang around News and Modding. For example, people will post things in the News category that...aren't news of any sort or are just shitposts. For another example, MetroHazard's post about some mod being uncancelled was given no link, no information, and running a couple of google searches turned up nothing for me so that too just seems like another shitpost. Modding also tends to be filled with screenshots of things that are given a caption (sometimes not even then) and absolutely no information on what it is. If someone has to go into these posts to ask what they're even looking at, that feels like it defeats the entire purpose. Considering All Things Lambda isn't really a thing anymore, I like to use this site as a nice little place to check up on any news and potential new mods, and seeing new posts in these sections be more like shitposts than actual content constantly is beginning to become grating.
Thanks for taking the time to write this. We hear you. Sadly we can't remove posts because they are vague or lack detail, assuming they are on-topic and don't break the rules. It would be too subjective and create too much strain on moderation. We would however like to find ways to better reward and boost quality posts, and ensure people see more quality posts first to fix this problem. All we ask in the meantime is that people only interact with posts they want to see, and give some love to original artists and creators making quality work.
Understandable, i'm not going to be unreasonable and demand things be done since, of course, as you've said it's really not that easy. Simply voicing my concerns and reading about that large update in the works does have me intrigued. Thank you as well for responding, I appreciate it.
No problem, thanks for the support and feedback.
Fair enough
I prefer poop and fart jokes over sexual taboo. No one mentions them. Top cringe.
To clarify, I don't judge. I just think that It's gone too far and in my humble opinion, is not suitable for this platform in particular.
Honestly I've been forgetting about this website lately tbh.
the joke has died out anyways so, there isnt really pint to be mad at it anymore, it was just a shitty joke made by people.
