Tbh, I hate it when people say Portal doesn’t fit in with Half-Life. Have you seen the Black Mesa Research Facility? They have giant crushers for no reason, just like Aperture. Aperture spans miles deep underground and Black Mesa spans miles in width. They both have localized portal technology, they both have turrets, they both have people who runs the companies into the ground, they both have giant spinning fans, both have pits of acid, and both are consistent to each other. I see no issue.

I think that's because how "modern" Aperture looks in contrast to Black Mesa; which environments look and feel more industrial sometimes.
Who would say this? It's baffling to me... Portal was literally a Half-Life spin off tied in to Episode 2 at its release. Back then, once I realized the connection I thought it was super awesome and exciting.
I know right? I think it definitely works and is very awesome yet sad. Aperture Science has some very futuristic stuff. If GLaDoS didn’t take over and the resonance cascade never happens then Earth would SO much more equipped to kill the Combine if they did invade regardless of the cascade.
Bold claims coming from Dr.Breen
Aperture has futuristic designs and things up to 30 years to Half Life 1 canonically. Also Labrat kinda break timeline... If we suggest all of this in one timeline. If Half life 1\2 has own. And portal 1/2 has own. Where in portal it isnt a combine invasion happened.... buuuut Labrat show some of HL2 stuff.... so yeah
A combine invasion happens in Portal, you just never end up actually seeing it. How do you think the combine got the energy pellets and what about GLaDOS's mysterious line: I don't even know what's going on up there. All I know is that I am the only one standing between us and them.
Combines stole a energy pelets and rechargers from Aperture, and Eli stole Gravity gun from them. And Black mesa stole HEV rechargers.... Damn, Aperture has a pretty shitty security. Maybe combine's stole this to, this is why them have as much bad security as well
