Ok lads, why is Breen SO hated? Sure he co-enslaved the entire human population, BUT IT WOULD OF GONE EXSTINCT OTHER WISE. My guy literally saved the entire human population and gives them a second chance, and this is how he's repaid? now death 'might' be better than combine rule but still. Comment if you think he is a true villain or just doing what he needs to do!

To me, he's kind of like the rest of the humans on Earth. Scared and hopeless. He did what he could to negotiate with the Combine so that they won't go extinct. In return, Humanity had to suffer. But the people hating on him is pretty much justified though.
It's a mix for me. It's justifiable evil because I don't think anything can stop them, at least not feasibly.
Breen is fine with stalkers being a made... so... yeah he's pretty evil. Perhaps he wasn't at first, but he definitely is now.
Well he may not be fine with it because what's he going to do? Tell the combine to stop? but yeah, he was probably trying to be a good person in the beginning.
But he knows many things that he shouldnt like the existence of G-Man and his connection with Gordon Freeman, for those kind of facts may be he prepared the resonance cascade after doing a deal with G-Man or his employers in order to have power over the human race, at leats thats how the truth about Breen looks like for me for now.
I could see why the rest of the remaining populus would hate him, still spewing out propaganda, cooperating with the invading empire that pretty much destroyed the rest of the world, all while the species is slowly dying off due to the supression field and the poor quality of life in the combine controlled cities and strongholds. but idunno.
