What's your favourite G-Man sighting from HL2? I know there's another one on a Breencast but I can never get a image of that, haha. Honestly I'm not sure which is my favourite here.

What's your favourite G-Man sighting from HL2? I know there's another one on a Breencast but I can never get a image of that, haha. Honestly I'm not sure which is my favourite here.
My favorite one is the one on the dam after the chopper battle, that one is actually pretty spooky to me for some reason, I think because he is not hiding in plain sight as usual, he *is* in plain sight, and he is just the right distance to look like he is in one of those creepy pasta photos. The Vort tv one is the one that makes me ask the most questions this time around (there's always something like that), was he actually talking to them or were we the only ones who saw him? Surely the Vort would. I also like the trainyard one where you have to crouch, that's really good because it's like a reward for being curious and you think to yourself "woah, I could have missed that one". The tv + creepy music + crow one has been discussed to death so I have nothing else to add to it, but it is peak Gman.
I think perhaps he was just telling them Freeman was on his way and they need to assist him. Sometimes it seems like the entire resistance is hiding stuff from Gordon, haha. I find it ironic he's known as the 'One Free Man', when he is anything but free. He's G-Man's puppet, and will help the resistance only as long as it is needed. Of course now with the end of HLA it's up for debate whether Gordon is fired or not. I don't think he is personally, as Heart to Heart happens after HLA. I think G-Man was just irritated about the Vort situation in Ep1. XD Of course... Eli now wants to kill G-Man... Went off on a tangent there, apologies.
Hahaha tangents are what I'm all about! Yeah I think Gordon's dubious freedom goes with Half-life's themes of freedom/free will juxtaposed with control, and the illusions of freedom that exist there. I think Gordon has "escaped", it's hard to tell how things work, but it is noteworthy that if you lose something important in Episode 2, like the car or the Vort, the message that appears on screen is not written by the Gman, but by the Vorts, that seems to indicate that he is under their care, and perhaps protection now. The Heart to Heart seems like a personal request, because the Gman generally doesn't ask him things, and it just so happens that the request aligns with Gordon and Alyx's intentions anyway (of getting to White Forest alive), really all that he was doing was coming over to implant "prepare for unforeseen consequences" in her memory, he could very well have told Gordon nothing, but that would be no fun hahaha.
That is true; even after Heart to Heart it's the Vort's message that is shown rather than G-Man's. Concerns me tbh... I don't like the idea of Gordon being 'fired'. Haha. Of course it could just be the Vorts still interfering and eventually G-Man will get control back from them. But G-Man's quote "I must extract from you some small repayment owed for your own survival." is interesting; is this because the contract is still binding in some way even if he has been 'fired'? Of course there's also "I wish I could do more than keep an eye on you, but I have agreed to abide by certain restrictions." Now that could indicate that Gordon is no longer under contract; maybe it's the employers that are not interested in Gordon anymore, rather than G-Man himself. Of course he is known for ignoring or 'arguing' with his employers sometimes. Actually wait... after G-Man lost control of Gordon in Ep1, I wonder if the employers were pissed off at him for letting that happen? o.O
Oooh, interesting thought! You know that would be an awesome twist to have in a game, to see the Gman *concerned* about something. I wonder who the "employers" are, is Gman like... a broker? Someone who sells services -- either his own or those of someone under his power, or is he an agent of an agency? Hmm. If it's the former, the employers in that case would probably be Eli and the resistance, and I'd imagine they would be happy about the interference, but otherwise, I could see his employers being upset that Gordon is a loose end. So I was thinking about the line you mentioned, extracting repayment for his own survival, my initial thought went to him saving Gordon from the Nihilanth's tempestuous death, and I think Gordon "repaid the favor" by doing everything he did in Half-life 2 (which, again, seems to have been in Gordon's own interests. Gman is very clever in that his assignments often seem to be in the interest of his underlings), but then it ocurred to me, something I glossed over: at the end of Half-life 2 Gordon found himself in the same situation, the Citadel's portal was about to explode in just a couple seconds and there was no way he could make it out of there... the Gman once again swooped in and saved him, and Gordon owed him his life once again, I think that's what he's referring to in A Heart to Heart, Gordon owes him for that and he wants him to take Alyx to White Forest in repayment. I have no idea how things actually work with him, of course, but I think that's the "rules", he does something for you and you owe him something back, so now Gordon and Gman are even...? A bit of a scary thought, considering what Gman did to save him, and that he could chose to do nothing next time.
Yeah I mean he didn't even seem concerned while in the vault (but there is concept art of him looking pretty depressed while in there). In any case I like to think that his employers are the same entities he has been mentioning throughout the games. So not just whoever is making deals with him at the time. I think he's an agent of some interdimensional space government-business thing... great explanation there I know. XD And I never bloody thought of that! It makes a lot more sense if he's talking about the end of Half-Life 2 with that line. Odd he didn't try to save Alyx though... unless he knew the Vortigaunts would save her; but then he seems pretty surprised when they interrupt him at the start of Ep1... dammit, a lot of things he says and does are contradictory. Honestly I hope they never explain G-Man no matter how many games come out; it's the mystery which makes him interesting. Any explanation would be a disappointment. Anyways I still hope G-Man continues to 'help' Gordon even if he's fired. Haha!
A lot of text
Yeah like, if they explain something, I'd like them to do it in a way that leaves us with two new questions in its place hahah. That's the fun way to explore mysteries, I think.
Nova Prospect TV
My favourite is the breencast in canals, it's so subtle yet spooky
Yeah it's awesome. Just wish I could get a shot of the one later in the game, haha.
The one in White Forest, right before Alyx delivers G-Mans message to Eli.
I wasn't including the episodes, but yeah that one is really cool haha.
What was he talking to Odessa? That what triggers me the most.. best one imo
Maybe he was telling Odessa to give Freeman the rocket launcher.
The one through the binoculars.
If have to say the Coasy 17 one, just because it was so memorable to me, Pretty sure it was the first one I ever noticed him talking to other people after OpFor
