SPOILERS FOR THE MOD HALF-LIFE: ECHOES Does anyone else think the protagonist of Half-Life: Echoes was Azian Vance, Eli's wife? I personally think so, and I'll explain why: The mod uses retail and cut dialogue of Eli talking about his family. Specifically these quotes: [Talking about Alyx] "I should have know when he rescued her it was for his own damn reasons." [Talking about Azian] "You remember my wife Azian, don't you?" "We were living in base housing, you know." "I can still only guess what might have happened to my wife." At the end of the mod, we can get a look at the base housing in question. We see G-Man maliciously hovering over baby Alyx in her cradle, before confronting the protagonist themselves, whereupon he states: "We meet again. So nice to have you with us. [bomb sirens in the background] Ah, not for long (ha)." I believe that the combination of Eli's dialogue, as well as the entire scene clearly showing the protagonist rushing into housing to rescue Alyx (which would only makes sense if the protagonist had some close relationship with Alyx in the first place), points toward the protagonist being Azian Vance.
