@uriah-the-vort

I have been a Half Life fan since 2020 (got into it kinda late I suppose) and I really enjoy making fanart pieces. A TF2 fan and Medic main from the start of 2023. I don't ship but don't hate on it.

Triage At Dawn...
Drawn while listening to Triage At Dawn remixes among others.
This song feels like the soul of Half Life; it's emotionally charged, melancholic, it feels like humanity's situation and remixes add even more. One of the most beloved pieces of OST. So here's a tired Gordon enjoying a sunrise on Highway 17 in some imaginary scene...

Emesis Blue face studies in... greyscale, is it called? I decided I quite like it.

Still trying to figure out exactly what the heck is going on, rewatched it for the 6th time. But I suppose not knowing exactly what's up is part of it's magic. I love how the movie always kept everyone's eyes bright white no matter the shadow (in most cases).

"The alien beauty of Xen"
This, as you may have guessed, was mostly inspired by Black Mesa in which Protozoan, these mesmerizing bubbles, appear far more frequently than in Half Life. Black Mesa, to me, feels very... emotional, especially in Xen. It might be the graphics turned up 1000 notches, it might be the NPCs turned more human, it might be the renewed fricking AMAZING look of Xen and its music but this remake feels extremely emotionally charged for me. And that's what I tried to convey here. (His eyes are actually visible if you zoom in, I just erased 90% of their opacity to make for the glass light reflection and add to the hopelessness in his look).

I tried to make Gordon look exhausted and desperate because holy cow, WHAT exactly did he get himself into. So he's tiredly reaching for one of these peaceful bubbles that seem to be attracted to him once they see him with a pained expression which I hope conveys the feeling of going through hell and FINALLY seeing something liberating and calming. Bubbles in real life sure get MY attention at least, at any given time. This was also kinda inspired by the scene in "Avatar" where the Sacred Tree seeds surround and coat Jake in a nice, calm moment. I hope all the videos I've watched about color, shadow and bounce light worked, I hope it communicates what it's supposed to and I hope you like it, see ya.

Here's what came out of the pain of this usual f*cking situation;
Me, a Medic, on fire and running like hell, my health trying with teeth and claws to regenerate fast enough and the SPLITSEC before I touch a medkit, my health either loses the battle or the Pyro crits me with a flare gun. And I land ON the medkit. So I took that almost comical situation, drew it in a perspective I've been wanting to try and loaded it with extra terror and desperation. I ended up adding Engineer because he and Pyro are buddies and his goggles made for extra glowing evil eyes effect. Plus it makes Medic seem even more alone and finished than he already was.

Something I made on Krita, requested by @CaptainQuirk26

They asked whether I could draw them a Vortigaunt with a fedora for a pfp and it seems I went a bit, uh... extra on the background (and lighting). One day- ONE DAY I'll be able to think up and draw better backgrounds. Why does drawing ALWAYS have to hit me with the "It's looking horrible, leave it and redo it", EVERY TIME there's a phase like this. But I went past it yay.

Also this turned out to be an experiment. The lineart brush is different, the layer for the colors AND shade/light is the same, I tried out these dot/splash-splash brushes, idk why. But here it is, I hope it's a passable pfp and Quirk, please tell me.

I drew Gordon and Barney from memory in the three main head angles at school in breaks today. I was going to add in Alyx to complete the beloved trio but I had no time plus *cough cough* how do you *cough* draw women...? Eheh, I'm rusty.

Barney's looking tired and depressed again, one day I'll draw him joyful and smiling. But now he's had a hard shift.

"M"
Dr. Ludwig and his various messed up versions throughout Emesis Blue, all in a combination.
I have one thing to say about that movie to sum it up and one thing only:
If you haven't watched it you're committing a serious crime. Just that.
Yep.

This here was one of the usual artist roller coasters. Spent a good two hours (maybe three) on it in a row, left, came back and OH SH*T WTF IS THAT. I worked it a bit more, bravely resisting the idea to leave it and pull through and I don't regret it, I reached a satisfactory for me point. Dear artists in general, ignore the voice of abandonment when drawing; you'll have your "bad" work as reference for improvement.
Maybe I should have narrowed the colors down to a smaller pallette, what's this mess...
Give me any comments, anything, any mistakes (many but ok) and yeah, ask if you don't understand a part.

Wall-E, playing something on his little built-in music player (which is barely visible) and Engie trying to spice it up with some cords. To whoever knows Wall-E; you're a legend, have some chocolate.

Wall-E was the first ever movie I watched in my life and has huge emotional significance to me. So I thought it might be interesting to take that and put it in the game I'm currently loving and bam. I tried to capture Wall-E's character, his shy/excited/curious nature, touching the guitar in awe and wonder and Engie is of course happy to play with a robot that doesn't try to kill him for once and has kinda matching colors. I believe he would be best buddies with Wall-E, being an engineer and stuff.
I have a feeling this might be one of my most realistic drawings in terms of lighting and coloring, yep. (Don't ask about the background thank ye kindly heh).
