With the Steam subreddit going up in smoke (pun intended), we've been contemplating adding a Steam subcommunity. Unlike the Valve/Steam category (which is intended for news about Steam itself), this could be used for similar posts to the subreddit - game dev, help, sales, reviews, PC gaming stuff etc. Would you be interested in this? Are there any existing members who'd want to admin/mod this (requires experience moderating projects)?

Steam community is a great idea. And I suggest a Library category where you get to show your custom steam library covers or something like that
Sounds like a good idea. I'd generally like a more forum-esque atmosphere than the more social media style of most subcommunities here, that could be a step towards that.
I mean, all of reddit seems to be burning. Which is pretty good in my eyes.
I like the idea of a steam subcommunity
Sounds good. I have modded forums and stuff in the past if that counts.
I think it's a good idea, and perhaps it would be a good gateway into the more broad gaming discussions y'all wanted to experiment with adding to LambdaGen. I'm not able to help out myself, but I wish you folks luck in fiding moderators for the subcommunity.
what happened to the subreddit? did it like exploded and died? some drama happened? or maybe someone said they were a furry and everyone went full on witch hunting?
has it been for years or something happend that made it MORE in flames?
As Concord said, they started charging for API usage (which means moderators can’t use third party tools or bots). Thing is even if they revert these decisions, Reddit’s leadership is very out of touch and will continue to keep pulling shit like this.
To further add to what the others said, a week or two ago, various subreddits shut down in protest to the fact that Reddit is charging for API usage (which was really important for moderation), some of them would come back after the coordinated shut down, others were closing their doors for good.
Basically they are removing access to third-party apps/extensions for the platform, and that action is ruining a huge chunk of the subreddits.
Absolutely.
I'm just imagining a future where lambdagen joins the fediverse. Ride the #RedditMigration wave straight to web 3.0 (no, it does *not* mean nft blockchains like the cryptobros told us)
That would be great. I've had past experience in moderating.
