Opposing force. Adrian doesn't get enough credit as it is and he is simply not like his common HECU brethren. If you had any knowledge of religion or terminology you would know that a shepherd can be as good as they can bad, you are left to making the decision of killing scientists, civilians etc, or you can spare them in the simple case that it would be morally wrong to just kill them. Not only that he's one of the last of his kind and needs to be brought back into the picture.
I know people hate Adrian for no real reasons so I'm waiting to be attacked for it. I simply don't care what they think so oh well waste your breath on me, more good out weighs the bad on why he should be brought back into the picture of Half-Life.
Gonna have to say Opposing Force. Some say it's overrated, some say it's even underrated.
In my opinion it just stands out over all the other games because of how much it expanded on HL1's gameplay and plot.
Also Shepherd is just a badass.
HL1 Blue Shift. The fights with the HECU are a good example of level design from going to office rooms, to train yards and industrial zones all in a smooth transition.
Half-Life 1, Because that game has a lot of mods, if you only buy hl1, you can still having fun with every with all of the mods published on runthinkshootlive, gamebanana, moddb, etc
Lost Coast is really cool and fun. I am one of those guys that thinks HL1 is better than HL2, but Lost Coast I like a lot. I wish it wasn't a tech demo and had more going for it though :(
Probably Half-Life: Opposing Force if I'm honest. Love Blue Shift, and it's a much more slick experience than OpFor (and the base game even, whoops), but OpFor plays with some interesting ideas, even if not explored to their fullest potential, and is pretty damn fun to play (unless you like playing on Hard, then good luck). Level design is consistently solid and the game doesn't really overstay it's welcome. Overall a solid experience and probably my fave.
Second and third place would probably be a toss up between Half-Life 2 by itself and Half-Life: Blue Shift. Half-Life 2 is VERY gimmicky and kindof lame in that regard, but it's paced very well and doesn't really ever get boring. Blue Shift is basically the Half-Life 1 experience but as close to perfection as you might get. It knows what to do and to get in and get out before it overstays its welcome.
My favorite game in the series is Opposing Force. I LOVE the gameplay, weapons, the story isn't the best in the series (imo) but still pretty interesting, I like the difficult being hard (I'm like that dude from the Steel Battalion commercial whenever I play), and overall just a REALLY fun expansion. I still debate myself on wonder I like Opfor or Half-life 1 more, for now it is Opfor. There is no really bad official game, though I love Half-life 1 (and the expansions) more.
Half-life 1 is like my burger, Opposing Force are my French fries, Blue Shift is my Milk Shake and Decay is... I guess my onion rings? I just love them.
Also, I don't know where the Opfor hating hot takes came from. I like to hear those people out, but it just doesn't make sense to me. I love both Blue Shift, Decay and Opfor equally personally.

Opposing fans like us need to fight together, they hate adrian for no reason, i am so sick and tired of it
I never understood the hate either.
This confuses me. I have yet to meet a single person who hates Adrian.
It’s really a shame Opposing Force 2 was never released, just think of all the potential!

It is a very difficult choice but I think Half Life 2 because I love the atmosphere, characters and much more.
Yep, just a completely new experience compared to HL1
Opposing force, its like hl1 but better.. more weapons... more enemies, better main character (gordon is really kind of boring to me)
Opposing Force was always my favorite of the expansions!
Half-Life 1. Hard to pinpoint, maybe the nostalgia. I do really love Opposing Force and Half-Life 2 though.
I struggle to accurately answer this question too. Half-Life 1 and 2 I'm always stuck between because they have such big differences and game styles.
HL1 Blue Shift. The fights with the HECU are a good example of level design from going to office rooms, to train yards and industrial zones all in a smooth transition.
Yep, Blue Shift is pretty to the point and mostly contained military fights
Definitely difficult choice... But for me it has to be Ep2. Love them all by the way 😊
Me too!

Can't go wrong with it!
hl2 was my first game in the series and it's still my favorite. The atmosphere is unlike any other game
HL2 is definitely more immersive and memorable, but I prefer the original, simply because I find it a lot more enjoyable and re-playable.
Gotta be Half Life 2 because I was so much more immersed in the world than Half Life 1
half life 2 the lost coast because i want to be different
Haha nice
perfection

Personally, I love Half-Life 2, especially the dark energy gravity gun.
