i hate the option in HL1 that makes it """widescreen,""" which just makes it extremely zoomed-in, horribly crusty, and you cant do anything.
i once made the mistake of clicking on it, and i had to use fucking HLS to play half-life
THANK YOU
i had this issue for my entire first playthrough of Half-Life 1 ever since i first turned it on in Blast Pit
it made me so frustrated over the fact that i couldnt turn it off
you can fixed the zoomed in issue by changing the FOV in the console, type in default_fov #. Just use something around 110° for widescreen because Half-Life wasn't really optimized for it I guess. Hope this helps!
its been two years since i fixed it so i might be forgetting
i think i just played another GoldSRC game without it enabled and it fixed it for all GoldSRC games (or i just reinstalled it)
I guess it can't be helped, about the aliens. The ecosystem of Xen is extremely competitive, and this has made these animals fierce and very territorial, not to mention deadly. Sometimes it is us or them.
The worst thing for me I guess is that we don't have enough of it (that is such a fucking fanboy answer lol), I want to see more and learn more about that universe, but there is so little to go on. The fan creations do help cope with that a little bit.
Hey it's my job to ask these questions!
Jokes aside, for me it's the parts where you stand around basically doing nothing, waiting for the next bit of lore dump to happen.
Gordon Freeman poor guy had an entire future filled with vent racing, beers and maybe at some point experimenting with the thing he's loved for so long (Teleportation thingamabobs). And it's taken away by a Fetus, grubs, and a government man

i myslef fixed it with launch commands, but im sure it'll help folks in that situation :)
I think the worst thing is that sometimes the fandom can have kinda… dumb… questions/theories.
I should clarify, the questions are usually ones about the lore

The xen levels are really hard to walk through but I think it's just a me thing, I kinda suck at goldsrc games :p
the relationship that was shoehorned into the source1 half-life games
