gotta be a earlier variant

I think AR2 redesign it what be logical done from hl2 AR2. And about grenades, maybe combine's used some explosive fluids but after HLA it became better to use ordinary one's. They bigger, but probably more reliable.

Pretty sure it’s a redesign, since there was no mention of gene coding in hl2, even though I don’t think the combine would get rid of that. Plus the entire point of hl:A was to change and expand upon the world of hl2.

I personally think the Ordinal Pulse Rifle is simply a light Carbine version of the AR2 to make up for the backpack weight. The Grenades seem to be an fully Combine design, so Its possible that its another variant along side the HL2 Grenade. HLA Grenade boasts a smaller size for easier stacking but with a smaller bang, with a yellow coloration for easier visual identification on wastelands and QZ. While the HL2 Grenades are conversion of earth Grenades to save time and resources, seems to pack a bigger punch.

I interpret the HL:A Pulse Rifle as simply a carbine/compact variant of the AR2 And the Grenades are an early Interpretation of the HL2 Grenades, before they start modifying Earth Grenades to fit Combine tech
