Alright hear me out, it's theory time. The reason there are no gonomes (the super zombies from Opposing Force) in Half-Life 2 is because the Combine genetically modified headcrabs to not get that far into mutation. Why would they do this? So that any zombies the headcrabs make can be easily dealt with if need be. Imagine if a shelling went wrong and suddenly there's gonomes everywhere. By the way, this is not a discussion about the canonicity of Opposing Force. I personally consider it canon, but that's not the point of this theory. Plus it's not fun to just say "OPFOR isn't canon."

I dunno if this theory was made before I thought of it. If it was, damn.

Half-Life: Dark Matter

Opposing Force isn't cannon. It's a machine gun! ...I'll get my coat.

Blue Shift is referenced in Half-Life: Alyx, both Barney's conspiracy books and a game on a floppy disk matching on is BS and then the expansions all reference eachother so-
