I've always wondered how GLaDOS managed to end up back in the Central AI Chamber in Portal 2, despite her seen in pieces in the front parking lot of Aperture Science at the end of Portal. Here is a piece of concept art from Portal 2's development that might explain this inconsistency. You can see there are various wrecked cars that have fallen into the Enrichment Center.

I believe this, plus the ending of Portal, implies the front parking lot of Aperture Science sits directly above the Central AI Chamber. Since a good majority of Aperture relies on panels for all of it's surfaces, it's not too out of the question that they use some form of these panels for the front parking lot as well.

During Chell's extremely long slumber, the panels holding up GLaDOS's remains must have collapsed, causing her to fall back into the Central AI Chamber, along with many other objects such as cars (which aren't seen) This can also explain how you can see the sky in the Central AI Chamber in Portal 2.

This might also explain the inconsistency of the surface of Aperture Science between Portal and Portal 2. The rest of the parking lot, (booth, lamp posts, fencing, etc.) must have either fallen into the Enrichment Center along with GLaDOS, or had been dismantled by the Combine at some point.

During, well, however long Chell was asleep, the landscape was most likely altered drastically. Meaning there was no evidence that the original entrance of Aperture Science was even there. The field of wheat may imply that the Combine were defeated, and civilization had been rebuilt.

This alternate entrance or exit to Aperture Science in Portal 2 might be a long stretch away from where the original entrance from Portal 1 is, considering how fucking MASSIVE Aperture Science actually is. Who knows how much land Aperture actually owned.
