Community Rules

We created the LambdaGeneration Community Platform to allow people to share Half-Life news and community content in a dedicated, organized and public space.
To ensure everyone has a good experience using the platform, it is important that we enforce a basic set of rules that define what is and is not allowed.
Please note that although we do our best to enforce these rules, we are not responsible for the actions and content of other users.
Please treat others how you'd like to be treated yourself. Do not engage in abusive or toxic behavior.
The following is not allowed:
- Being deliberately disrespectful, toxic or abusive to others
- Engaging in harassment, cyberbullying or personal attacks
- Wishing or expressing desire that someone experiences physical harm
- Publishing private information (doxxing)
- Impersonating an individual or organization
- Using hateful language, slurs or imagery
- Threatening violence towards an individual or group of people
- Attacking an individual or community based on race, ethnicity, nationality, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation or disability
- Encouraging suicide or self-harm
- Encouraging or glorifying real-world violence
Abusive behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstance.
LambdaGeneration is a gaming community and not a world forum. We want to bring people together who love Valve games. We therefore strive to keep the site free from content which provokes division, toxicity, or is otherwise irrelevant to Valve games and topics.
The following is not allowed:
- Invoking personal drama and feuds in public posts and comments
- Divisive behavior, trolling and flaming
- Public shaming and witch hunting
- Invoking irrelevant political discussion in community posts and comments
- Political messaging, campaigns or propaganda
- Inappropriate depictions and memes of recent wars, political events or real-life tragedy
This does not include:
- Profile posts (posts not in communities) may be used for *civil* political discussion
If you disagree with these rules, you can always use Twitter X.
Do not share or post links to explicit (NSFW) content.
The following is not allowed:
- Nudity
- Pornographic content
- Sexual acts
- Illustrated/artwork of any of the above
- Real-life gore and graphical violence
- Vulgar language
This also includes profiles, avatars and banners.
Art theft is not tolerated on LambdaGeneration. You must credit artwork and animations that you didn't make.
The following is not allowed:
- Posting artwork or animations that you didn't make without credit
- Passing others' work as your own (plagiarization)
- Passing AI generated artwork as human-made art
This does not include:
- Memes
- Links/embeds to content uploaded by its own creator
- Content you have commissioned or have legal rights to distribute
Keep LambdaGeneration organized. Posts should be relevant to communities and categories. Use Reposts for cross-posting.
The following is not allowed:
- Posting off-topic content in communities (off-topic content is only allowed in profile posts)
- Posting/reposting to the wrong communities e.g. TF2 content in Half-Life
- Posting to the wrong categories e.g. posting fan art in News
- News categories are for significant for personal announcements or trivial content
- Posting separate copies of the same/similar posts to multiple communities instead of using Reposting
Do not post repeated, irrelevant or deceptive content, or abuse the site's system.
The following is not allowed:
- Mass-posting the same post or very similar posts
- Posting nonsense (trashposting)
- Misleading or deceptive content
- Unsolicited advertisements
- Undisclosed affiliate links
- E-begging
- Disrupting users with unwanted content e.g. tagging or pinging others without good reason
- Abusing our system and algorithms to amplify or suppress content e.g. creating fake user accounts to artificially boost content
This does not include:
- Promoting legitimate Valve related projects, Discord servers or game servers
- Promoting legitimate projects in profile posts
Do not use our platform to promote, encourage or engage in illegal activity.
The following is not allowed:
- Child sexual exploitation
- Animal cruelty
- Involuntary pornography and sexual abuse
- Terrorism and violent extremism
- Criminal activity and organized crime
- Selling, buying or facilitating transactions in illegal or regulated goods or services
- Computer misuse and cyber crime e.g. spreading malware
- Scams and fraudulent activity
- Distributing or sharing links to pirated content
This does not include:
- Rebelling against the Combine
Subcommunity moderation
Some subcommunities are moderated by other users from our community and may have their own rules.
These subcommunities include:

Subcommunity rules do not override our global community rules (above).
LambdaGeneration staff do not moderate subcommunity specific rules.
Reporting violations
If you encounter activity that violates these rules, you can report it to us by clicking the … button on posts and user profiles and clicking Report.
LambdaGeneration staff and subcommunity moderators review all reports and take action on any content deemed to break these rules.
Enforcement
LambdaGeneration staff reserve the right to remove any content hosted on the site, including content that we deem to break these rules.
Subcommunity moderators reserve the right to remove any content within their subcommunity, including content they deem to break these rules or their respective subcommunity rules.
Consequences for breaking these rules or subcommunity rules vary depending on the rule and severity of each rule broken.
Enforcement may include, but is not limited to:
- Issuing warnings
- Deleting content
- A ban from specific subcommunities
- Temporarily suspending user accounts
- Permanently suspending user accounts
- Deleting user accounts
Account Suspension
Accounts may be suspended for the following reasons:
- Engaging in abusive or toxic behavior
- Posting outright pornographic content
- Spam and platform abuse
- Illegal or malicious activity
- Breaking multiple rules at once, or over time
- Breaking a rule in a severe way
- Ignoring warnings from moderators
- Signing up after being actively suspended, including with alts
- Violating our Terms of Service
We may suspend accounts on a temporary basis if the reason was minor. If this occurs, we will give an opportunity to you to re-read our rules (above)
If your account has been suspended you may not rejoin the platform. Attempting to rejoin, including using an alternate idenity (alt accounts) will result in an automatic permanent ban from LambdaGeneration.
Bans/suspensions are universal across everything we operate - including our Discord and game servers.
LambdaGeneration staff reserve the right to suspend any account on the site for any reason.
Appeals
All enforcement actions by LambdaGeneration staff and moderators are final.
Appeals will not be considered except in exceptional circumstances.
