Core related theory: The portal 1 cores are the portal 2 cores. Here’s how: The cores got burnt in Portal 1… but GLaDOS said all aperture stuff is functional up to 4000 degrees kelvin, not to mention that GLaDOS is STILL ALIVE after she apparently got thrown into a incinerator. So if the cores got thrown into the incinerator, they will likely still be functional, but damaged… and so they got replacement parts and look like they do in portal 2… some are replacement personalities too. But that’s just a theory a CORE theory.

i dont think so, I think these cores burnt and died. That's kinda why glados got hurt in the first place. She can function without the cores, just that these cores kept her under control and prevented her from murdering everyone. Each of the cores had their own function in suppressing glados Morality Core: Gave her "morals" and prevented her from outright killing people Curiosity Core: Kept her curious enough to keep testing. She did test even without it but this core kept wanting glados to try out more testing Cake/Logic Core: Most likely Wheatley or a different version of it that came up with stupid ideas or a constant cake recepie to slow her down Anger Core: It "stored" all the negative emotions from galdos and kept her from being mad and frustrated So destroying these cores caused a malfunctioning and caused glados to shut down. It was only because of reactivating power to glados' mainframe that caused her to be alive again
You make a good point. The only thing I can come back with on this is that the ones that burnt and died (Presumably morality and Anger) are dead but I still see many similarities been Curiosity and Spacey, and Cake and Wheatley. Maybe they had a data backup or something. So yes you’re probably right but I like to imagine there are connections there.
yeah well, canonically there's not really a lot to disprove this. If anything there's kinda evidences that wheatley is the cake core. the space core comes from another cut beta core called the Aquarium Core, which was the same but obsessed over aquariums. Still its similar to the curiosity core
