Tell me, how did you get into GMod? For me, it was Idiots of Garry's Mod, specifically the "do a barrel roll" clip where, among other things, a train does a barrel roll. I started playing in late 2010.

I first played Gmod sometime around 2005. A friend from high school told me about it and installed it on my computer over dial-up. I remember the game being extremely basic then, roping props to buggies on the hl2 coast maps. Sometime around when I started LambdaGen I worked with @phoenix-storms on the popular PHX team (now known as Builder props in modern Gmod). Good times.
I found out about Garry's Mod when I saw the video "The Idiots of Garry's Mod" and Civil Protection on Machinima.
My oldest brother showed me it once on the family computer. Flash forward a couple years when I discovered a trio of YouTubers consisting of SpyCakes, Beautiful OB, Camodo Gaming. They made pretty entertaining Gmod videos for 11 year old me. They still upload, but their content is so much less now. Their videos made me make a Steam account. Garry's Mod was either the first or second game I bought.
I first started around 2006, watching my older brother play sandbox and building weird contraptions wowed me. I would go to bed legit dreaming about the stuff I'd make. I ended up playing on his account during 2006 and on my own account around 2011 (I'm 21 as of writing). Nowadays I just develop addons (I developed the Modern Warfare Base & SWEPs with my good friend Mushroom Guy) & I make artwork (check my profile's/steam artwork's/twitter page for more of my stuff ;) )
i remember it was during gmod 8-9. My friend basically knew every hl2 mod in existence so he told me about it and i installed it. the rest is history.

For me, I got into it because of the Gmod Idiot Box. I was veeeery young and just loved playing around in the Sandbox mode with a handful of maps that I downloaded.
I found out about it today. They said I had to install Counter-Strike or something.

It's how I discovered gmod, and the valve/source community in general
I watched gorgeous freeman and instantly bought the game.
I got heavily interested in it for the le funny gmod animations being made, so i managed to get it at around ten bucks. But, I of course played around and grew very Interested in it more and more. I was very Surprised how talented and incredibly big it was for a simple Sandbox game. Its what surprised me of how Beautiful the Artworks were of it. The realistic Softbox Lighting, the little details, just- Mwah! I then of course returned to sfm because my janky office computer at the couldn't handle installing nearly 600 addons at the time soooo.... But, hey, once in a While, ill Boot up Garry's mod if im Bored. :D
I had some friends and they were all like "wanna play gmod" and then I was like "i don't have gmod" and then they were like "it's only $10" and i was like "i can't afford that" and then they bought it for me and i've been playing gmod ever since. I don't remember how long ago that was, but I'm pretty sure I was 12 at the time.

It's the Vanoss crew that makes me want to play it, the goofiness of them still stands to this very day (Excluding that Mini fellow) I started playing in january of 2022, probably the most late out of anyone in this thread.
both Vanoss and VenturianTale Gmod sandbox videos, it really inspired to get into it and one of the first games I bought on steam
I actually only got it last Saturday but I've been interested in GMOD since around 2015 and or 2016. The thing that got me interested in the game was a channel called TCNT Gaming or something like that, he basically did random sandbox stuff with his friends and I just really enjoyed it
