As much as I enjoy this update, I gotta say it’s a bit of mixed bag for me. Sure the update adds many new content, features, and fixes. But it comes at the cost of making the expansions and a whole lot of mods unplayable. I hope Valve fixes this issue soon, wouldn’t want the one of the biggest updates for a Half-Life game to ruin all of the game’s mods.

Don't worry, you can use the pre anniversary build in the betas thing

Yes, but this option adds to the inconvenience that was there before the update. Now to play the original Half-Life you need to remove the Beta and wait for the update download, and to play other games or mods on the contrary put the Beta and wait for the download of the previous version. It seems to me that Valve should have made a separate branch, like Source Engine 2007, but without some of the resources of Half-Life, such as maps. And run through it games that are not adapted to the new updates.
