I am pleased to properly announce I am currently working on a comic adaptation of Valves iconic first-person puzzle game Portal. It will be retold in three parts where it shows Chell going through the Aperture Science enrichment center solving puzzles with the top-secret portal gun as a computer voice guides her through the chambers.

This like all portal mods will be made in my free time or when I feel like working on it. I have 4 other ideas I’m working on. 1 I’m already working on, three I’m already brainstorming on. Two of the brainstorming ones are original while the other is another video game adaptation (it’s not valve related).

The way I’m drawing this is being done the traditional way. So I know what the environments should look like, I print out the necessary reference (Although I tend to print out more then I need), then glue them into a notebook.

I’m making this for people who don’t want to play video games for a while but still want to obsess over their favorite games. A main inspiration for this is the art from the comic “Master Race” by Bernie Kriegstein. Any other comic I learn has good visual storytelling will also do good.

Where I’m going to post this, I’m still thinking about though I am leaning toward Internet archive so people can download it as a pdf. I’ll also have a pdf in a way that people can print out and staple like a real comic book in case they hate reading digital stuff.

Coloring I’ll probably do myself with colored pencils and have a black and white version as well. You’re free to color the above drawing if you want to.

Edit: know what, whom ever colors the above drawing the best to my standards can be the one who colors the comic.

Edit #2: never mind the non valve comic I was going to adapt is already being adapted to comics

When you realize Wheatley had never said his name up until “I did this! Tiny little WHEATLEY, did this!”

Early render test of a portal "animation" in blender I'm working on. The finale render have fog.

Edit: Ok this will not happen for awhile cause I want it rendered as fast as possible using either eevee or cycles at low samples and finding a good optimizer is driving me nuts

A test I did in Blender. I wanted to see if I could make a scene in eevee ethereal I fake the indirect lighting instead of baking it. I achieved this by putting a large area light under the map and disabling shadows. I did this because baking indirect lighting and rendering a frame in cycles takes forever! This on the other hand speeds up the process with each frame set to 256 takes only about half a minute to render. Where I learned what I did (I think): youtube.com/watch?v=mbb32j…
