if you were a 2D animator remember this isn't like 2D animation. also always make sure if model interpolation doesn't fuck up your animation, it happens when instead of a fast move your model will slowly shift from the start to the other position if you want to mark the start of your move just select all your models and bones and tap the little rotation/moving thingy, also the face controls (atleast of tf2 characters) are marked by what sound it makes (i'm not sure about that) if its marked "AB" this means it'll make the A and B sounds (the face posing may be inaccurate as im not that experienced in SFM altough i have almost a 100H in it) you can also record your own gameplay the official SFM tutorials showcase good what to do in the program starting from simple stuff to other and also covering the basics of animation so if you're starting with animation overall it's good to check them out but first start with 2D then move on to 3D as 2D is much much much simpler and easier than 3D also feel free to download workshop items they dont take up 60Gb of space like Gmod SFM is a good place to start or animators because Blender may seem a bit overwhelming at first. make sure your movements aren't completely still as it will seem weird if a guy reloads a rifle his support hand should drop the rifle a bit angle it down because of the weight. also tweak your layout a bit until you like it it's important to feel comfortable in your layout and know where everything is but dont mess with it too much as it will scre up everything and youll have to start all over. also SFM isnt only for animation as it is for Renders too altough they arent super high quality as it is Source but still. also on the workshop always make sure to see the names of the items so you can find them and not look for them yourself. This is all i can think of, Farewell on your journey of 3D animation!
