this is my biggest problem with raising the bar the combine models elite soldier: they took the worst elite soldier conceptual art and mixed it with the normal elite soldier and turned that combine soldier: if i told you that weird guy up there is a combine soldier would you believe it metro police: I only say two things, he's not intimidating and the nickname I gave him is ''match egg head'' THIS POST WAS NOT MADE TO OFFEND OR BELIEVE THE WORK OF RAISING THE BAR DEVELOPERS, EVEN BECAUSE IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BETA MODS

Honestly im not thr biggest fan of their artstyle since its very weird and "cartoony" in a way which does honestly not contrast well with the "realistic" source engine maps.

I have to seriously agree the Consul looks like a silly cartoon villain from the 80s
i agree with everything here. there is a lot of wierd stuff in the levels that dont make sense -for some reason in the consul plaza there are wrecked cars which is mostly made to have cover in the shooting section but its also wierd having cars in a combine occupied street because you can even see combine apc earlier. -consul has this wierd heavy russian accent which makes him even more goofy than he already is. -and for a beta recreation mod it has a really weak atmosphere.it never felt for me like it was an actual world where people lived unlike dark interval.
in the dubbing part, another dubbing that makes the character more silly is Barney
I gotta say it really does look like a strange mesh of star wars and fallout design. The last pic resembles the bounty hunter that han-solo shoots, funny enough.

Okay, this is my chance to rant for a bit. Now, RTBR's Combine designs are indeed more unique and they're charming in their own way. But I suppose Its my personal bias but I don't fully like what they did to it. They dont feel quite "Combine". Personally It looks too round and smooth (I mean yeah the Combine has smooth organic designs, but they also have plenty of harsh or angular ones), especially the helmets, the Uniform and vests are fine, but the helmets bothers the heck out of me. Now time for objective personal opinions and nitpicks The Metrocop helmets feel too rounded, not enough slight angularity, looks too smooth, it doesn't give that same threatening "authoritarian" vibe. The Elite mostly looks fine, although I don't understand why the eyes are a diamond/triangle shape, I think the original big round eye is still good, or at least the triangular-ish dual lens eye the standard combine use, or bigger ones like the Beta Elite or "Sniper Elite". Now, The Soldier. The Overwatch Soldier is the one that personally bothers me the most. Mostly it looks fine but they returned the silly looking big bug eye design from the "dogmask" designs, which I think just look very silly. Again If they just change the eyes to the "standard" triangular-ish dual lens eyes It'll look better. And an extra nitpick, I feel like for the Overwatch Elite and Soldiers, it'll be cool to have one side of the armband be red and have the Elite/Combine Insignia (which is already in the RTBR Design), and the other armband be the Identification numbers, like that concept arts that shows the left armband say "35 00" or "803" or something. And maybe the "Synth Logo" at the back side of the vest like the E3 2003 Demo Soldiers. Again this is an insignificant rant by some guy, and with personal objective nitpicks. I think the design is unique, but I personally find some slight issues with it. I genuinely wish the RTBR team the best.
