What I find incredible about this project is that when I was 12 I built something similar. I don't recall the name of the entity - maybe it was env_camera? Or viewcontrol? Who knows, it was back in 2002~
Anyway, point is I did something similar. Nowhere near as sophisticated as this. I made a tiny Half-Life side scroller by building maps viewed side on. I modified the controls / input so it was keyboard input only. Turned it into some kind of Freeman platformer. Didn't really work out.
I couldn't figure out how to disable mouse input so you could screw it up by moving the mouse. And there was no targetting system so attacking enemies was hell. I also found that the flashlight was 'stuck' to the player when the camera was invoked. I eventually dropped the side scroller perspective and tried a more Silent Hill-esq approach. It still had all of the setbacks mentioned above however, the atmosphere I managed to create with it was really something.
Super excited about this project
That's neat! and if you made a mod for Half-Life when you were 12 that's very impressive! I always tried to do a mod for half-life but I always find the GoldScr engine very hard to understand haha
This project is made in the Unity Engine, I'm trying to replicate the feeling of Half-Life as close as possible.
Believe it or no, the inspiration for this project is my other game project that is inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill
Heh, nice. Sort of like how the houndeyes were originally planned to be neutral and one could ally them.

Wow I did not realize this was being done in Unity! Amazing. Best of luck with the project.
