I've created a Texture Converter and a Particle converter that will read all the files mounted in a Source mod and convert those that are incompatible with the mod's Branch.

There is no need to extract anything. Just mount the VPKs from the Source Games you want to use assets from, open the converters and let them do the job.

On my i7-12700H 2.30 GHz laptop, it just took some seconds to convert all ASW textures. Particles are converted almost instantly.
