

I was recently digging through some Half-Life 2 level files to spark inspiration and noticed that they used a lot of what seems like oddly placed skip brushes. From what I understand these will just be ignored by the compiler. Is there a reason for the Valve Devs to do this that I just haven't grasped yet?

if i remember correctly this is a product of a compiled map being decompiled. a lot of those skip brushes tend to be other tool brushes (most of those in the first one are player clips, you can tell if you load retail d1_trainstation_04 in-engine and try to climb onto that chimney without noclip!) that don't transfer from a bsp
