I'm not against swears, in fact I find myself dropping F bombs left and right.
When it gets to levels like Hunt Down The Freeman where the F word is dropped every half a millisecond in random sentences that have absolutely no business being there, then I've got a problem. It comes off as trying to be edgy when in reality it comes off childish.
If it's used where it would make sense, sure, go for it. There's nothing inherently wrong with using swearing in a mod. But, like Bruner said, if it's just dropped willy-nilly wherever they feel like it, then it can be a turnoff.

most mods are automatically good if there are swears in them.

No biggie for me
For a HL related mod, no. No one has said the F Word (except Barney)
Turnoff. It's not a big deal, but I'm not a fan of it. It distracts from the experience in my opinion.
