Hey Community, I'm getting ready to show off a Project i'm making.

HL2 Upgrade is going to be something interesting, we are porting as many Half-Life Alyx assets into Half-Life 2 as possible and then anything left will be taken from the highest quality community assets.

It's nowhere near done, so don't let its current state stop you from keeping up to date with future content.

I just watched it and... I have mixed feelings about this. The high-poly models and high detailed textures don't fit the brushwork enviroment that Half-Life 2 lives in that much, a recompile would help a bit since radiosity would recalculate bouncing lights with the new texture but it would still look weird with the brush work The maps would need to be changed to mesh based... which... is not what Source 1 was made for at all and decompiling, changing the environment and recompiling could bring a lot of headache so it's not an optimal solution either. It kinda feels like Cinematic Mod too, which... isn't really a bad thing, but since HL:A is in the same atmosphere as HL2, it shouldn't really change the atmosphere that much I think, but then I never played HL:A. The atmosphere problem could probably be resolved by changing the light_environment but as I said before, decompiling maps and recompiling them is not optimal... I don't know how to feel about this yet, but I'll still be keeping a look. I do have a question tho: I did say that recompiling maps are not optimal, but is that on your plans? (Pardon me if it's a team and not only you) If so, are you gonna remake the buildings to use HL:A models too?

Thanks for the feedback, building geometry will remain the same only textures shall be changed. Due to it being a two man team at the moment map editing isn’t planned at all and would be too much work for us alone. We will be modifying models textures and sounds only.

Thanks for the support everyone, The footage dropping today is raw gameplay from the first chapter. It’s purely to show off assets and textures and more detailed videos will come in the near future.
