MTV premiered a show called "MTV Video Mods" in 2004. What was it about? They created music videos for existing songs using video game characters and assets. The videos were well-made for their time and were well-received by the community. Some video games included "Ned for Speed," "The Sims," "Death Jr.," "BloodRayne 2," "SSX 3," "Unreal Tournament," "Guitar Hero," "Silent Hill 4," etc. It turns out that among all the music videos, they made one for Half-Life 2 where Gman sings "So Cold" by the band Breaking Benjamin.

that video was re-uploaded to youtube in 2006 after the release of episode 1
Literally the video that got me into Breaking Benjamin. Hearing 'Blow Me Away' in Halo 2 not long later cemented them as one of my favorite bands. Also MTV didn't make that video, it was made by a guy named Paul Marino. He also worked with Rooster Teeth on The Strangerhood and Red Vs. Blue, and worked for BioWare on Mass Effect and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
still cant believe this was made with just the sdk and nothing else
i so want to play "Ned for Speed"
I'm still seeing Breen...
