Black Mesa was pretty big, so he probably didn't know all of them that well. I wouldn't doubt at least one or two being his buddies, though.
all the scientist and guards you encounter seem to recognize gordon so i'd say he was fairly popular in this work space
It was probably a one-sided thing if you ask me. They knew of him, but he didn't know them all that well.
