I don't post here a lot, but that's because I'm usually doing some archival research surrounding HL1. While it is possible the E3 Office video doesn't feature the voice of Laidlaw; Laidlaw did record temp lines for the game. John Guthrie in an IRC interview states this and does say that he had the Laidlaw lines in his build of the game.
<Choryoth> Void_M - you'll be able to do your own voices with a microphone. Right now, as placeholders, I have Marc Laidlaw's voice. <heh> He makes a great scientist... and security guard... and...
as far as I'm aware, Marc did the really early screams for the scientists and death sounds for the barneys that are still in the alpha, iirc I spoke to him about that a couple years ago and he confirmed it. I could literally just be stupid and wrong though.
I've yet to get sources and images for a lot of this, so some context is missing.
This interview was from July of 1998, well after the early alpha sounds. Some of the Scientist lines that aren't Harry S. Robins have a resemblance to the temp Laidlaw lines from Half-Life 2. Namely the "That suit won't do him any good if he wanders into the beam" line.
Completely forgot about those yeah, egg on my face in that regard then.
