I met comic artist Michael Avon Oeming at Long Beach Comic Expo 2016. He worked on comics for Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead 2, and Portal 2; all stellar works if you haven't read those yet.

We chatted a bit about his time at Valve, including telling me about Gabe's knife collection, one of which was carved from the bone of a whale's penis. No, I didn't make that up.

At the End.

Crafted in collaboration with Joy Jordan, for the SFM Discord's contest (voting next week!).

I did the concept, scenebuilding, and props. Joy did the post processing, placing some of the particles, lightning, and refining the concept.

Why I don't wear Max's Severed Head anymore. (released in May 2011)

Inspired by my time being bombarded with trade requests and insults in TF2 servers; all for some hat I got from preordering Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse.

btw the "Why are you wearing that hat if you didn't want to trade it?" line was actually a real comment I received

So, these dumb meme pics were made by turning off the lightning, disabling the phong (mat_phong 0), and using the AO's Outline. I took two photos, one with the phong and outline (phong needs to be on for the outline to work) and another without the outline and phong. Then I overlayed one photo on top of the other in Photopea and carefully erased the non-lining around the hat and character to achieve an outline effect. I used the clone stamp to erase the hat strap and any bright phong areas around the model, along with painting any other brighter spots. Still reading? Good. I cannot believe I have to type this explanation out. But I am bored and mildly annoyed, so let's keep going. After all of the painting and such are done, I export the image through JPG and put the quality at ZERO to achieve a meme effect, cause as we all know, the worse the picture looks, the funnier it is. Probably.

There are a lot of ways to achieve certain effects through Source Filmmaker/Garry's Mod and Photoshop.

Peace and love. 💕
