As we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2 I wanted to show something that I loved and that existed in the past. VALVe launched a skin for Windows Media Player 9 (ninth generation of the Microsoft music player that appeared in Windows XP) that featured the look of Half-Life 2 plus some artwork from the game. You can use it for free without any problems through the Internet Archive website (A museum for preserving old Internet applications). I hope you like it, I loved it and put it on my PC and it shows how VALVe was and still is, perfectionist in its releases and advertising. My Opinion: VALVe needs to bring HL2WMP back. Please Lord Gaben. Observation: I wasn't the one who made these arts. archive.org/details/half-life-2-… (This is the site where you can download the skin (if you prefer).
This still works in Windows 10 and 11, as long as they still have the classic media (Even in WLM 12 that comes with said Windows Versions
Of course it works, I also downloaded it on my Windows 10😃👍. I would like VALVe to take advantage of the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2 (November 2024), to bring this skin to Groove Music on Windows 10 as an option for Media Player and also to put this skin on Linux (I understand in recent years, a VALVe policy in favor of the Pinguim platform🐧, how do you use Steam on Linux with Proton to run Windows games on Linux, SteamOS, a VALVe system that uses Linux code and the Steam Deck that runs on SteamOS), that is, use this skin on other Operating Systems because it already has it on Windows.
its a really cool feature there were only 2 game skins i think half life 2 and halo 2
I didn't know about this version of Halo 2 because I'm a fan of Half-Life and I discovered other Media Player themes than Half-Life 2 and Halo 2. But I'm glad there were other versions of Media Player.
i found the files for the halo 2 one on the internet archive this is how it looks
Nice
