I’ve been thinking a lot about the plot of the seemingly-upcoming Half-Life 3, and it made me think quite a lot about Portal 3 as well. Do you think a combined, all-in-one sort of game that consists of the two storylines converging with each-other would work? Picture how awesome it would be if you played as Gordon as you and Eli head to the Arctic to find the Borealis, but somehow run into Chell on the way as she volunteers to help the resistance, and gameplay switches over to Chell’s POV as you use the Portal gun. They could also somehow go to Aperture and attempt to employ GLaDOS’s help to find the Borealis? I know this probably wouldn’t make sense lore-wise (Doesn’t Portal 2 take place like thousands of years after the Combine occupation of Earth? I don’t think it’s deliberately stated, but I think it could still work) But I just thought it would be such a neat way to provide both stories with a proper happy ending, while also being epic gameplay-wise featuring mechanics and characters from both stories. I don’t know if it would be a switch situation where you play as Chell for one level, using her Portal gun and maybe having a recently-landed-back Wheatley as a companion, and then switch back to Gordon and Alyx for a next level. Or it could maybe function as a two-player splitscreen sort of game? Not sure. I do somehow want to see more prevalent Portal topics in HL3 no matter what the game ends up being. We already saw Aperture and such in Entropy: Zero and that proved it worked well in the story, so I thought it would be sick if we saw returning characters like GLaDOS and Wheatley appear at the least, even briefly. I don’t know. What do you think?
Wheatley might make a cameo but probably won't return. It would be nice to see GLaDOS maybe hack the combine's systems just to really fuck them up, that's the only way I can see us having a chance against the main combine army, maybe along with that we gott a superweapon that allowed us to finish the combine forever, and the forces on other planets would just die off.
