So, as some of you may know, I'm a developer on the Vance project. Now, the wrangling we do with the Source Engine often requires me to modify very obscure files. Today, I came across this little commented out block, seemingly from early on in the Half-Life 1 development, in the file "game/server/player.cpp"

A lot of this stuff I've seen mentioned by HL1 beta fans before, but here's what stood out to me as things I've never seen anywhere else before:

It appears that the original purpose of the suit battery was to power player items, such as the long jump module or something called the Alien Cloak/Shield.

They also planned to give Gordon Scuba gear for underwater ventures, as well some sort of item/effect that would cause the player to return to life if killed for a few seconds.

They also wanted to add food that the player could heal from, anti-radiation syringes for healing from radiation damage, and anti-toxin syringes for fending off what I assume to be Bullsquid attacks.
