I can see what you mean, I remember the loose aiming of Medal of Honor, it did give things a feel similar to VR aiming, although it was rather janky on a controller.
Actually, not only that. The concept of HL:A in relation to HL2 is also similar as Medal of Honor: Underground in relation to Medal of Honor (protag being previously non playable character, setting made before the events of previous game, etc).
