I can agree with you about the length of Surface Tension, I just think it has a lot of memorable moments that outweigh it's cons. I've just never liked Residue Processing, going through the conveyor belts and swimming through giant cogs was just never fun for me, still better than Interloper though.
I'm glad my nose and mouth are still ok while I play HL:S
HL:S was perfectly imperfectly developed to the point where it was extremely painful to play but not to the point where you can't breathe.

It's one of my favorite chapters in the game, yes. Surface Tension on the other hand is a boring slog that feels like it goes on for far too long.
