Idk they wold be amazing in hl2 and future games but i guess valve just removed them cuz they thought they would not add anything to the game, but i think they're wrong cuz, when i play hl2, i'm feel there's very few enemy types, and most are very similar to others so, adding the bullsquid and houndeye would make the game better, but i guess valve will never want squiddy goodness and one eyed dogs in any future hl games, R.I.P Bullsquid and Houndeye.

one thing that I find strange is that Marc Laidlaw says that they still exist in half life 2, but you never find them, I think this excuse is really stupid, you walk around in several places in half life 2 and you don't find any other aliens at most a zombie, and there are people who will say "but that's because the game takes place in the surroundings of city 17" yeah, but what about in ep1 that city 17 is devastated and no aliens appear, and in ep2 city 17 turns dust and you still can't find anything, valve must be kidding me

I'm not sure, but it isn't because of the 2003 leak. They were already cut well before that happened.

just because of that? but it wasn't even such a big revelation, everyone already expected that some aliens from hl1 would be in hl2, what was surprising was just having the zombies in the game
