Theory on xen. I don't know about you guys but i think that black mesa's xen and hl1's xen coexist. What if, in black mesa, you just ended up somewhere else? Like, in hl1 xen looked very organic, this could just be somewhere else, and maybe, an older part of xen. the xen rock in hl1 is probably just covered in some sort of xen flora or fungus that makes the rock look like that. yeah
