Funny fact. I bet none of you did not even pay attention to that in HL1.
SO, as you know. When you walk on different surfaces, you make differend sound. According to this surface. Obviusly. So, Valve, because of hurrying did not configure this thing properly. So, some surfaces did not make appropriate sound (used default concrete step instead) some sound weirdly. Good example of this on map C2A5E where grass below sounds like concrete, and concrete above (where screenshot was taken) sounds like Dirt. When you start pay attention to this, this is no way back. :)
