I've been thinking about this whole Overcharged situation for a while now, and yes, the Overcharged devs were idiots and I don't agree with that, but I think this situation is getting out of hand, and saying that insulting them, creating fake news against them and even having an article on pcgamer to publicly humiliate them even without a statement from the devs is already too much for me. Besides, I can't stop thinking that this whole situation could have been resolved without all of this, and no, I'm not on the devs' side in case you're wondering.I just wanted to give my opinion on this situation
(Edited)
Everybody rightfully determined that there was no private resolution to be had once the devs stepped over the line. It's one thing to make a bad mod, hell even be mad about the criticism. But modifying the client.dll file to stop people from playing? There is never a reason to do that, thus all civil conversations are off the table then. The devs did this entirely to themselves.
Even so, I still don't agree with trying to destroy their career and image because they don't accept criticism, and even about that I have my doubts, because if they blocked Noclik and Hazard because of their criticism then why didn't they block Jolly or Deadwater who are better known YouTubers and who made more videos about the mod? I don't know, this whole situation is very confusing to me.
Wait what happened?
You don't know?
for my investigation, i checked the client dll, and even got it to activate by replacing noclick's steamid with mine youtube.com/watch?v=eXJTiFiYFtE
I still don't know why they didn't include other YouTubers who were bigger than these and who made harsher criticisms of Overcharged.
i'm honestly not sure, maybe they were more scared of excluding them from playing the mod because of how big of an audience they have, which would publicize it to a large audience (which noclick did anyways)
and the message was very revealing so to speak
docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1… btw a reminder that like 50% of the mod is stolen
It's sad that this is the only serious mode that adds more content to Half Life 2
Nobody tried to destroy their career, they did that to themselves. The code is real, there's no doubt about that.
