Not sure this is fair.
They put a ton of effort into this to improve performance. Source is an old and brittle engine. There’s not more that can be done except remaking the entire game in another engine.
The reason it got flagged (the same reason TF2 64-bit update also got flagged), is because Microsoft have changed the AI that their malware detection works, and it’s garbage.
A ton of indie games and non AAA studios are suffering from this whenever they push new binaries.
Large studios don’t have this issue because they can pay MS to be excluded.
Please support the developers, and be aware of the BS they have to deal with from MS, who are trying to make binary signing pay to win.

never saw the purplecolonel video. black mesa is bad because CC completely ignored what made half-life great, and instead it's a weird and shitty balance between poorly balanced difficulty spikes for the sake of """""realism"""""" and "WHOA PWETTY GWAFIX" (they are neither impressive or pretty, the mod is actually pretty ugly)

i feel convinced that this is a super effective rage bait
it does make people undeniably angry and annoyed, which is a fun little bonus, but this is my actual opinion.
