Pre-release Black Mesa (pre-2012) is an interesting topic that i wish more people talked about, whether it be images, sounds, or videos, i feel like the topic is under-talked about.

I agree, pre 2012 black mesa has its own vibe tbh
really wish we had a build other than that one really unfinished alpha
I really like that holosight on the Mp5, if I recall correctly it was changed a long time ago because I think they chose to stick with something that was more faithful to HL1. Nevertheless, it looks sleek.
it's in the files of alpha 6 if i am not wrong and there is a mod that restores that for bm steam (albeit unfinished), also it's funny cause if that's their reason then i guess they backtracked their decision cause it seems like bm steam mp5 is different from bm 2012's MP5A3, which is what hl1 used for the mp5 worldmodel
Black Mesa's pre-2012 stuff is really interesting (especially stuff from 2004-2007 before EP2) and honestly I kinda wish some earlier builds would leak to the public.
i feel like cc doesn't even talk about it much, fsr they don't ever seem to acknowledge the existence of 2004-2012 bm post-2015
that's just the thing with game studios, they never seem to acknowledge the game's early stages
but with bm it feels especially weird considering they seem to mostly acknowledge development of xen stuff (xen museum mod and whatnot)
well they worked on it the longest, and are very proud of the fact that they managed to mostly fix the xen chapters, so i see why they would brag about it's development
ironic since i'd rather never touch bm xen again (except for nihilanth)
I think one part of the reason for that is because the team has changed a lot, a portion of the team (which worked on that build) has moved on and new people have come in, so some of the folks who would have the most to say are not active developers anymore. Black Mesa is kind of an iterative generational work to an extent.
oh god the old cherokee model
Epic
Kinda late, but there's an old Black Mesa Source development channel on YouTube where they made showcases of various mechanics, weapons, NPCs and some of them are different from retail stuff. There's even an evolution of Gluon Gun development.
BlackMesaSourceMedia? i am aware of it, but thanks anyway
