That's like saying the different looks of HECU enemies aren't necessary, you just need only one look and give them all the weapons. Visual variety is not a bad thing.
well look, this was suppoed to be a different variation of the houndeye right, but instead of doing anything different to the variation, they just give him the same mechanics and it's just kinda boring since it has a cool design
Well, all the scientists of HL1 and citizens/rebels of HL2 all do the same things, right? Better just not have any different models and just have a single one. Yeah, it is a cool design, but having different designs does not mean you absolutely have to build new mechanics into it. Again, visual variety is not a bad thing. You may find it boring and that's totally fine, but that's hardly an argument for removing it entirely.
