Holograms are something one could say is a common thing to see in the Half-Life universe, But yet it's not consistent throughout the games, In the first Half-Life games we see it used to showcase Global activities but most as a way to see pre-recorded messages, But later in Half-Life 2 and its expansions we see almost no sign of that technology whatsoever neither by the rebels nor the combine, My first guess was that only Black Mesa had that technology at that time and when they got nuked then the hologram technology was lost for good, but yet that was not the case because we see that hologram technology is being used a lot by the combine and the rebels in the prequel game Half-Life Alyx it's weird that they reintroduced holograms in a prequel like that, It would mean that Gordon never cross paths with any Holograms during the entire Half-Life 2 except for those holographic 2D screens that can display 3D as shown in HL:A Let's blame the inconsistencies on parallel universes because those are always working as an excuse nowadays.
