What are your thoughts on Portal RTX? Personally, I don't think it looks good. I mean the technology is very impressive, but it completely screws up the artstyle and visual identity of Portal... It reminds me of GTA Definitive Edition. I don't care that it's free, that doesn't make it immune to criticism.
I think the test chambers look a bit too clean, and the wall panels don’t look man made. The dots on all of them are pretty distracting and unnecessary... Plus I’m not a fan of the new Portals. In most of the shots in the trailer the particles weren’t even visible, then in others it seemed too intense. The dark inner glow just doesn’t look right either. I hope there’s a setting to keep the original textures with RTX lighting and reflections. Same with the Portals. If not, I’m sure someone can mod it to look more “vanilla” but still enhanced.
For me it's like when I see a video like "what it would look like with uNrEaL eNgInE 5".
It doesn't replace portal 1 to me, It's simply another dimension with a similar timeline.
