Hello all! With the 20th anniversary of Half-Life 2 upon us, I thought it was a great time to launch my new YouTube channel, Machine Yearning! My first video is a retrospective of Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. For a time - as I'm sure we're all aware here - it had a bustling multiplayer scene with map-making contests and a competitive tournament with cash prizes. Through a combination of poorly implemented updates and Valve's attention being elsewhere, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch faded into obscurity. However, a small core player base of dedicated fans never abandoned Half-Life 2: Deathmatch meaning one can hop on a server and get grav-gunning straight away. These older gamers keep my childhood alive and allow me to revisit hallowed ground whenever I please. To them, I salute you. This video is dedicated to diehard fans of old games everywhere that keep the flame burning.
