Give black mesa a go its a pretty fun game xen though you might get stuck like i did so make sure to play hl1 before you do this.
If you have both, start with Half-Life, as that will give you a lot more understanding and appreciation for the remake. (Also i'm just one who enjoys the contrast between original and remaster/remake.)

Play both at the same time
Play both. Play Half-Life first, then (unless you haven't played HL2 and the Episodes) play Black Mesa. Each one of them are enjoyable on their own.
