Post

Hello all. I usually make content that is a light lighter-hearted than this, but I can't keep quiet about what's been going on anymore: Pre-Fortress 2's leadership has had significant problems in their actions and behavior for a long time now, and have refused to work with me to resolve things privately. If you know or care about this project at all, I highly encourage watching this video.

Do we have an update on the situation, perhaps a formal response from the so-called "project leaders"?

Nothing other than that one of them made a post on the dev server reiterating the same things that I proved specifically they did not do (specifically that they "apologized with the best of intent, given the circumstances," and that they "tried their best to solve the issues privately.") I can retrieve the exact message if need be.

The exact message I was given is as follows: "Dear staff, we are aware of a video showcasing screenshots and interactions between developers of this servers. We understand your frustration, but you must understand that we did the most we could and tried our best to solve these issues privately. We don't want to ignore it's existence so we are acknowledging it with you now. That being said, we will not be deleting it or requesting it’s removal from anywhere. Deleting the video would reactionary and only make things worse. We have no intentions of responding to it publicly as all of the events addressed in the video were previously privately amended. In the interactions between staff we learned from our mistakes and apologized with the best of intent, given the circumstances. We do not condone harassment, and that goes both ways. Please do not seek out anyone in this video with malicious intent. We have taken this as a learning opportunity and will continue to be open for discussion about or with developers. We are open to discussion about the events of the video and sharing our experiences. We hoped it would not escalate into anything more then discussion but it did not work out the way we wanted. Thank you for you time." As you'll note if you've watched my video, "we did the most we could and tried our best to solve these issues privately," "all of the events addressed in the video were previously privately amended," and "we learned from our mistakes and apologized with the best of intent" are things that I addressed in my video as having *not* been amended or resolved.

If they are unable or unwilling to engage in a proper argument in order to resolve the problem, then they are to blame if the problem worsens and the project crumbles in the future. I understand that you don't want to see a project that you supported die but instead have a change of leadership. Your video was a smart move. A chance of swaying the masses to boycott the game, if it works, they may become desperate. If this happens, they're going to have to brainstorm and look for solutions, and at that point, you're going to need a trustful Insider, to address the questions/solutions in a nonchalant way, and at that point, I'm pretty sure they are willing to sacrifice positions for the project's survival. But let's say they still ignore the obvious solutions. You're still going to need to bring them down somehow, and I think another video of yours could do it. You will need to gather evidence for this video, you need to keep track of everyone that comes in and out of the team. Those who leave. You need to interview them to find out what experiences they had, and why they left, and seek knowledge that can be used against them. And the newcomers. Don't scare them away from the project by giving them reasons to. This is a perfect time to get an Insider if you don't already have one. You need to get their trust, they need to know that you want this project to do well, just as they do. They need to know that a change of leadership is what's good, and gathering evidence in a discreet way to help build this video is a start. The more evidence in this video the better, and it will indeed be time-consuming. But worth it. If it's a hit, and every search result on the project shows your videos, then there will be a huge impact on the team. Take my words as you might. They're nothing but thoughts. Ideas. What ifs. Only you can choose if you want to engage them further. You can always look away, whatever happens, happens, after all, is it really worth your time?
