Entry log #1 Where do the Combines' synthetic creatures come from? Judging by the data at our disposal, these ARE creatures, not machines. This information is a luxury that has been afforded to us by the means of the growing rebellion capabilities: they've managed to destroy a few of these "Synths" through means of extreme force, but not to the extent that their remains cannot be analysed. I've found through extensive biological and molecular research that these creatures certainly stem from an ORGANIC origin. One can assume that these living creatures hailed from their own home planets, when the Combine sought to invade. Once Combine occupation was established, the conversion process evidently took place - across an expansive number of dimensions that we cannot easily estimate at this time, this process repeated itself. More biologically engineered assets were added to the Combine armada with every instance conquered. So far, these have taken the form of tri-legged weapons capable of mass destruction, airborne gunships that swim through the sky in a Cetacean-like manner, and (if we factor in Earth's contribution to this expansive force) ground-based militia forces that utilise the power of human versatility. Truly an expansive and terrible effort of assimilation on a scale best not beheld by human psyche... Are we all destined to the same unfortunate existence as our fallen allies, both that of human form, and of the planets that share our fate? Will we all face mass conversion? We may, or we may not. I am not one to speculate on such grim thoughts as the destruction of our species. However, it begs the question. Given the suppression field ceasing the production of all new humans, and the continual destruction of our home planet, where do the Combine wish to source their trans-human forces once the human species has ceased to exist? That may be a subject of speculation worth investing in the near future...
