Ever since i saw the big X on North America in the Snark jar room I've been asking to myself what the remaining humans that were enslaved by the combine would do with North America after Half-Life 3
I'm not sure the X over America is implying that the entirety of America is destroyed. I think this globe is here to try and pinpoint the location of where City 17 possibly is located on Earth. The X over America indicating that it's definitely NOT there. Poking fun at the very small group of people who for whatever reason think Half-Life 2 is set somewhere in America.
That could also make sense
Interesting. I always thought that combines destroyed the North America, and by that I mean literally breaking the litosphering plates of Earth. And yeah, I like the idea of that being an unknowledge prediction of humans after Seven Hour War about where is City 17. And this globe looks ancient, probably the only globe Alyx could find. We will never know the aftermath of combine invasion and its affection on our planet.
