My dad showed me it in 1999 when I was 6 after that I become a huge fan of half life

I watched some famous YouTubers play Portal when I was a kid. I thought it looked cool so I had my parents buy me the Orange Box for the Xbox 360 so that I could play it myself. The rest is history.

Back in 2014 when I was a kid, I had this FNaF phase, and I discovered this video: youtube.com/watch?v=7ZrYVSgBI1Y So I discovered Garry's Mod that way, then I learned along the way that Garry's Mod was actually a mod of Half-Life 2, so I began looking into Half-Life... That's how I got here.

I remember I finding out about it on three separate occasions: 1) I remember watching my dad play it on the og xbox with my brother 2) I became obsessed with Portal 2 after watching my brother play it on the 360, then I found out that it was connected to Half-Life through a theory video lol 3) I played a LOT of Gmod on a shitty laptop because my friend told me about the Tardis mod (I was and still am obsessed with Doctor Who), and I just sorta knew that everything was from Half-Life 2 because of my memories of the game Half-Life has been with me for most of my life, just existing in the background. Eventually, after hearing that a VR game was in the works, I decided to play it, and my life has never been the same since...

I wasn't allowed to see what my father was playing but I got a sneaky sneak peek when he played it

I found a fucking meme about gman beatboxing and started talking about gman as a bit of a joke but then I researched it and I was like "damn this shit's actually incredibly interesting" then I watched jacksepticeye play half life alyx

Ok so basically my dad was a fan of original half-life back when it came out, and somwhere between 2012 and 2014 we played Synergy, and i was really excited and horrified, i tried to hide every time i got shot lol.

In early 2005 I walked into the 'computer room' and saw my older brother playing it. Watched him play several segments, though I think water hazard is what I most clearly remember from watching. The memory of absorbing the world over his shoulder is still so vivid. I started playing both it and CSS basically nonstop after that. Once I found Gmod videos on youtube at the end of the year my fate was sealed.

I watched a YouTube video and it had references to both Half-Life and Portal, so I read the comments and found out what they meant. Before then, YouTube had always been trying to get me to watch Portal videos and I had never been interested, but that was the first time I had dived into it completely.

I saw my best friend’s Dad playing it when I was round at his house when I was a kid. Asked my parents for it and they got it.

I remember the nostalgic virtual Orange Box with Portal, Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2 which was bought for me by my parents.

I found Half-Life because of the Youtube Algorithm bringing me to VanossGaming Gmod video.

Initially I just found out about the game in a pc magazine article which talks about classifying game genres....and then years later in Wikipedia I saw the cover art and the screenshot about it....... And well, in 2020 I finally play it for the first time since I figured out how to download the CD version....

Even though I played Half-Life multiplayer on PS2 with my brother, it wasn't until a couple years later where my brother me borrow The Orange Box on Xbox 360 where my fondness for Half-Life started

Oh And Also By GMod, I Don't Only Mean GMod The Game, I Also Mean GMod Machinamas And Also SFMs
